On Thursday night, July 3, Neenah and Menasha enjoyed a very successful lighted parade. Literally, thousands of people, adults and children, lined the route and were amazed at the creativity and ingenuity of folks with their lighted floats celebrating the 4th of July.
Neenah and Menasha also celebrated Communityfest on the 4th of July, and I can personally attest to the fabulous success of the event for all ages at Riverside Park.
Starting early with pancakes in the pavilion and the children’s Liberty Run to the petting zoo, pet show and karate demo, the children were kept busy early and the smiles were evident throughout the park. The afternoon was busy with things like the Wisconsin Singers, the ski show and the Community Band to name a few.
The weather was perfect. The food vendors did very well and this family-friendly event enjoyed huge crowds. At night, the Venetian Boat Parade was back and the night was topped off with a spectacular fireworks show to a jam packed park with the generous financial help from Festival Foods. Thank you to Festival Foods for their support.
A special thanks to all the committee volunteers, financial contributors, and city staff that contributed to making this year’s Communityfest a huge success. Eileen McCoy and Trevor Fink from our Parks and Recreation Dept. had the park in great shape and worked long hours to ensure that the event went smoothly. Our Public Works Dept. also helped to make this event a success. All of these people deserve our thanks for a job well done.
This is just another example of why Neenah’s quality of life is good and why I’m proud to represent Neenah as its Mayor.
