Weekly curb side yard waste pickup in the spring begins April 18 and runs to May 22, 2017. Beginning on June 5 through November 27, yard waste is picked up monthly. See page 2 of the Recycling and Refuse Guide for pickup dates in your area. All yard waste must be in 35 gallon garbage cans with handles, bushel baskets, or smaller containers which weigh less than 50 pounds each. Biodegradable paper bags (30 gallon) may be used.
Hedge trimmings, garden debris, and fine brush should be placed loosely in cans or baskets not to exceed 35 gallons in size or 50 pounds in weight or in 30 gallon biodegradable paper bags. Small amounts of brush should be bundled, 2 feet in diameter by 4 feet long and tied with heavy cord. Large amounts of brush up to 3 inches in diameter should be kept long and placed adjacent to the street with the butt ends facing one direction for chipping.
A yard waste drop off site is available at the Tullar Road Garage at 1495 Tullar Road.
Fall Leaf Collection
Leaf collection begins the week of October 11 in Area #1 and continues until weather prohibits (snow or ice) or until the last scheduled collection, whichever comes first. Place leaves loose on the terrace for pickup. See page 2 of the Recycling and Refuse Guide for pickup dates in your area. The schedule is subject to delay due to weather conditions.
No plastic bags or containers of leaves will be collected. To avoid polluting storm sewers and to prevent traffic hazards, do not rake leaves or grass into the street.
The city will not collect grass clippings. For a fee, you may dispose of grass clippings at the Winnebago County Landfill (920-727-2884), 100 W. County Road Y, Oshkosh. Biodegradable 30 gallon paper bags may be left at the landfill. All other bags must be removed. Landfill hours: Mon.- Fri. 7:00 a.m.-3:00 p.m., Sat. 7:00 a.m.-12:00 Noon. Any material brought to the landfill in an open trailer or truck must be covered with a tarp.
