Become a Candidate – Getting on the Ballot

Read and follow the election rules and regulations outlined in the 2022 Candidate Guide.

Incumbents NOT Seeking Re-Election:
Need to complete and submit the Notification of Non-candidacy (EL-163) to the City Clerk no later than 5:00 pm on Friday, December 22, 2023.  Failure to notify will extend Nomination Paper deadline 72 hours for that office.

Alderperson Candidates:

  • Complete and submit a Campaign Registration Statement (CF-1) to the City Clerk as soon as you decide to run for office but no later than 5:00 PM on Tuesday, January 2, 2024. However, this must be filed before circulating nomination papers.
  • Circulating Nomination Papers for Nonpartisan Office (EL-169) can begin December 1, 2023 after the Campaign Registration Statement is submitted to the City Clerk.  Nomination Papers are due no later than 5:00pm on Tuesday, January 2, 2024.  
    • 20-40 Signatures are required.
  • Complete and submit a Declaration of Candidacy (EL-162) to the City Clerk no later than 5:00pm on Tuesday, January 2, 2024.

Municipal Judge Candidates:

  • Complete and submit a Campaign Registration Statement (CF-1) to the Winnebago County Clerk, 112 Otter Avenue, Oshkosh, WI  as soon as you decide to run for office but no later than 5:00 PM on Tuesday, January 4, 2022. However, this must be filed before circulating nomination papers.
  • Circulating Nomination Papers for Nonpartisan Office (EL-169) can begin December 1, 2021 after the Campaign Registration Statement is submitted to the Winnebago County Clerk.  Nomination Papers are due no later than 5:00pm on Tuesday, January 4, 2022.  
    • 200-400 Signatures are required.
  • Complete and submit a Declaration of Candidacy (EL-162) to the Winnebago County Clerk no later than 5:00pm on Tuesday, January 4, 2022.
