HYDRANT FLUSHING

Posted:

Hydrant flushing will be conducted from 7:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., throughout the summer months, to remove accumulated rust and mineral deposits.  If hydrants are being flushed near your home, please wait to use water for approximately one-half hour to allow any fine particles to settle down.  If you run water and notice discoloration, wait 15 minutes.  Then flush out the discolored water through your outside hose bib or cold laundry sink faucet.  Although the water may temporarily be somewhat discolored, it is safe to drink.  The discoloration is the result of rust and mineral deposits being scoured from the inside of the pipes.  Your patience and cooperation is appreciated and will benefit all water customers.
