Overnight Parking

The city limits overnight parking in order to efficiently provide services that keep public streets and parking lots clean of debris and clear of snow. For this reason, parking overnight from midnight to 5 am is restricted depending on the type of street and the time of the year.  Check out the sections below to see how overnight parking applies to you.

If you should need to park overnight in a normally restricted area due to special circumstances (for example, for house guests or due to construction), contact the Police Department by phone at 920-886-6000 to request permission to park overnight.

Listed below are the overnight parking rules by location:

The Common Council amended the residential winter parking rules in October of 2024 to follow the residential summer parking rules.  Moving forward there will be only one set of residential parking rules for the City of Neenah.

For residential streets, overnight parking is allowed using the alternate side method as follows:

  • Park on the even house-numbered side of the street on even-numbered days.
  • Park on the odd house-numbered side of the street on odd-numbered days.
  • For determining which day is odd or even, use the calendar date before midnight. In other words, if you park your car at 10 PM on the 14th, your vehicle should be parked on the even side of the street. If you park your car at 2 AM on the 15th, which is an odd number,  you need to use what the date was prior to midnight.
  • If there is no parking on one side of the street or if you are parking in a cul-de-sac, the alternate side method does not apply to that section of street. You may park overnight on the available side of the street; however, the 24-hour maximum limit rule does apply.

Parking overnight is not allowed anytime on streets in the downtown, the industrial parks, or other business districts. Nearby city parking lots may be available for parking overnight.

In the downtown, the Blue Lot and the Green Ramp are available for overnight use year-round. Other city lots within the downtown are available for overnight parking in the summer months only (April 1 – October 31).

For any lots within a city park, parking is not permitted overnight anytime.

We strongly recommended calling the Police Department at 920-886-6000 to notify them that your vehicle will be parked overnight.  Also keep in mind the 24-hour maximum limit rule does apply.
