NEENAH, Wis., July 27, 2026 – The City of Neenah has declared a local state of emergency following a storm that struck Neenah and surrounding communities on Monday, July 27, 2026.

The declaration, issued by Council President Dan Steiner serving as Acting Mayor, became effective at 5:30 p.m. on July 27, 2026, and applies throughout the city limits of the City of Neenah.

The storm caused structural damage to buildings, downed trees and power lines, disruptions to utility service, and impacts to roadways.

“This declaration allows the City to take the necessary actions to protect public health and safety, coordinate response efforts, authorize emergency resources, and document damages and costs for potential state and federal assistance,” said Acting Mayor Dan Steiner.

The declaration also authorizes the Acting Mayor and the City’s Director of Emergency Government to take actions reasonably necessary to respond to the emergency. This includes emergency procurement of goods, equipment, and services, authorization of necessary overtime and personnel deployment, and coordination of mutual aid.

City officials are coordinating response efforts with Winnebago County Emergency Management and Wisconsin Emergency Management. The City is also authorized to request, provide, and coordinate mutual aid, including assistance to the City of Menasha, the Village of Fox Crossing, and other affected jurisdictions.

Residents are urged to avoid damaged areas, stay away from downed power lines, follow instructions from public safety officials, and use caution while traveling. Additional updates will be shared through official City communication channels as response and recovery efforts continue.

The local state of emergency will remain in effect until further notice. Please monitor the City of Neenah, Wisconsin Government Facebook page for further updates.
