Storm Damage Repairs: Please Check Before You Start

Posted:

We know many residents are working through storm damage repairs, and we understand how stressful and frustrating the process can be.

If you’re planning repairs or property updates, please consider calling City of Neenah Inspections before work begins to ask whether a permit is needed. Permits help ensure work is completed safely and can help protect residents from unsafe repairs or possible contractor scams.

Projects that may need a permit include things like fences, decks, sheds, garages, structural repairs, electrical work, plumbing work, furnace or A/C replacement, water heater replacement, foundation repairs, and additions. Permit fees will be waived for demolition of buildings, homes, garages and sheds that were damaged by the tornado.

Some cosmetic repairs, such as re-roofing, re-siding, or cabinet replacement, may not require a permit unless structural, electrical, or plumbing work is involved. Because every project is a little different, the easiest way to know is to ask.

Please call City of Neenah Inspections at 920-886-6130 with questions, email us at inspections@neenahwi.gov, or visit us at Neenah City Hall (211 Walnut St.). We’re here to help residents make safe repairs as our community recovers.
